This is an on-site position at the Cleveland Clinic Administrative Campus in Beachwood, OH.

As a Virtual Patient Companion at Cleveland Clinic’s Administrative Campus, you will use a telemonitoring system to provide continuous remote observation and surveillance of up to 15 patients in a variety of units, departments, and/or locations. This position is essential in ensuring that all patients receive top-quality care, and nurses are supported. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring assigned patients, verbally redirecting patients from engaging in at-risk behaviors, summoning the nursing staff if any patients require assistance and remaining knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies and procedures.
A caregiver in this position works nights, 6:30PM—7:00AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Comply with established corporate and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance methods, and safety codes.

Demonstrate compliance with licensing, regulatory and accrediting agency provisions as required.

Demonstrate appropriate and professional communication behavior toward patients, customers, and coworkers.

Cooperate with management and peers to promote an environment of teamwork and collaboration.

Demonstrate an understanding of and proficiency in the use of the NAME TeleSitter Solution software.

Maintain visual observation.

Verbally redirect patients over a digital 2-way audio device that is in patient rooms.

Immediately summon the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.

Participate in the hand-off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving to monitoring area and upon completion of shift assignment.

Arrange meal break times and inform staff before leaving the monitoring station so relief may be provided to ensure constant patient observation.

Provide patients with explanations as necessary but does not counsel or provide opinions.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High school diploma or GED.

General knowledge of hospital settings.
-
Capable of monitoring up to 15 patients on one screen at one time and remaining alert at all times.

Ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.

Communication and computer skills.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Previous experience in a hospital environment.
-
Previous clinical experience.
-
Previous direct patient care experience.
-
Nurse Assistant/Medical Assistant certification.

Physical Requirements:

Requires the ability to sit for prolonged periods.

Lifting and carrying weights of up to 10 pounds from low to high levels is occasionally required and is an essential function of the position.
