As a Physical Therapist, you will utilize various exercises to increase strength, range of motion, endurance and coordination to relieve pain, avoid injury or regain function. This position requires close physical interaction with patients, offering numerous opportunities to truly connect with patients and build stronger relationships. Often, these patients are dealing with pain, so sensitivity is essential. Giving patients the drive and support they need to work hard and regain their health is equally important.
A caregiver in this position works varying shifts between 7:00AM – 6:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Evaluate and conduct prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions.
- Establish, revise and evaluate plans of care while involving the patient and/or their family.
- Perform therapy interventions.
- Supervise activities of Physical Therapy Assistants, students and other caregivers.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor’s Degree or certificate
- Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Experience in a clinical area

Physical Requirements:
- Walking and climbing stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load to support patient from falling
- Lifting and reaching with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program
- Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse
- Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements, analyze these movements and read all patient monitors
- Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families
- Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment

- Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
