As a Cardiovascular Technician Apprentice, you will assist in cardiac catheterization to ultimately gain the skills necessary to become a fully certified Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT). A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00am—5:30pm w/on-call requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Under supervision of CV Tech, perform basic EKG interpretation, single and 12-lead ST segments analysis for ischemia/injury patterns and recognition of arrhythmias.

Recognize and interpret EKG changes related to all electrophysiology procedures, such as mapping, ablating and implanting of cardiac resynchronization devices.
-
Perform arterial and venous pressure monitoring, sampling and basic interpretation.
-
Document procedure completely and accurately including medications and supplies.
-
Perform patient observation.

Under supervision of the CV Tech, assist team members in acute cardiac care, including resuscitation and related therapeutic effects.

Under supervision of the CV Tech, utilize aseptic techniques throughout pre-, intra- and post-procedures.
-
Set up scrub procedures in both Cath and EP lab.

Prepare all instruments/equipment for decontamination and take them to the sterilization department.

Assist in room cleaning after each case.

Restock procedure room when cases are completed for the day.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High School Diploma/GED
-
Completion of an approved Cardiovascular Technician Training Program within one year of hire
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association
-
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association within six months of hire
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:

Workload is heavy and requires constant lifting, moving of patients, equipment, instrument trays, and supplies.

Able to lift items up to 50 pounds without assistance and greater than 50 pounds with assistance.

Stooping, pushing and pulling required when moving patients or equipment into position for surgery.
