Specialty Transplant Unit Recognized as Top Nursing Team
Peter Rozman has been leading the caregivers on the G101 Specialty Care Transplant unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus since 2016 as the Nurse Manager. With the mix of skill sets among caregivers on the unit, along with the passion and dedication they show in caring for patients each day, he was honored but not surprised when his team was recently recognized with an award from Cleveland.com (Cleveland Plain Dealer).
“It’s very humbling and meaningful,” Rozman said. “It just shows the trust that we all have in each other to rely on one another. It doesn’t matter what our skills, talents or favorite things in nursing are, we work with each other to find ways to improve patients’ situations each day.”
The G101 unit received the Top Nurses Team Award at Cleveland.com’s Top Nurses Award ceremony. Award recipients were selected among 141 nominations and represented a wide variety of specialties, all showing a knack for and a commitment to providing compassionate care.
“Our nurses are here because they have a passion for post-operative care,” Rozman said. “It’s evident in our actions. It’s a team award, so it’s truly special that it’s not just pinpointing or highlighting one person. Everyone on this team is recognized by this award.”
The nomination came from a patient who had recently received a liver transplant. He met some challenges on his road to recovery, but he found solace in looking to the nursing staff in G101 for comfort and reassurance. Additionally, his family trusted the team to keep them updated and put their minds at ease when they weren’t able to be at his bedside with them.
“There’s a lot that goes into what we do and how we’re perceived when we do it,” Rozman said. “I know that the care we provide to patients and their loved ones is recognized and does not go unnoticed. Organ transplantation touches so many people!”
