As a Speech Pathologist, you will evaluate patients and apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques to support the rehabilitation of patients with functional limitations, impairments and disorders. In this role, you will help patients improve their speech, open new communication possibilities, and enhance their ability to comprehend others, express themselves, communicate more effectively in social settings and swallow safely. This is a dedicated, collaborative team that will help you advance your skills while supporting patients throughout their healing journey.
A caregiver in this role works day shifts from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., with occasional weekend and holiday requirements.
Caregivers in this position must be able to travel to both Weston and Coral Springs, with mileage reimbursement provided when traveling to more than one site in a single day.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Evaluate patients and apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with functional limitations, impairments and disorders.

Provide, interpret, plan and supervise patient evaluations and treatments in accordance with physician referrals, ensuring the care, safety and wellbeing of patients.

Continually review care plans and make revisions as needed.

Prepare progress reports on all treatments in conjunction with departmental policies and procedures and communicate updates to physicians as needed.

Instruct and counsel medical staff and family members to assist patients with treatment techniques.

Perform voice evaluations, bedside swallow evaluations and treatment for a variety of voice disorders.

Demonstrate competency with Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSs) for adult and pediatric patients.

Follow Code Blue procedures and all protocols in accordance with Clinic policy.
-
Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by The Joint Commission.

Collaborate with ENT and Head & Neck Surgery teams to provide evaluation and treatment for patients with voice disorders, head and neck cancers, chronic cough, swallowing difficulties, Parkinson’s disease and related conditions.

Utilize Videostroboscopy to assess voice disorders and preferably Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) to assess swallowing function.

Apply advanced clinical expertise in the treatment of voice and swallowing disorders.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Masters, Doctorate or SLP-D Degree from an accredited School of Speech-Language Pathology

Registered in the State of Florida
-
Current Speech-Language Pathology License (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology or eligible

Speech Pathologist (SP) license in the state of Florida
-
Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American-Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)

Externship experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Experience with Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and/or Modified Barium Swallow Studies
-
Two years of experience
-
Knowledge about different voice techniques
-
Experience or interest in laryngectomy care
-
Experienced in treating voice disorders
Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
