The Neurological Institute and Department of Neurological Surgery at Cleveland Clinic is seeking a full time Spine/Trauma/General Neurosurgeon to lead its program in the Cleveland Clinic Akron and Canton region. The successful recruit will have demonstrated leadership managing a team covering spine, trauma, and general neurosurgery. Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center with reciprocal support to and from Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton which is a Level II Trauma Center.  This southern region of Akron and Canton, OH, is a rapidly growing component of the Cleveland Clinic’s regional program development.

Interested applicants must be American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) BC/BE neurosurgeons with a high degree of competency in Spine. Preferred candidates will have completed fellowship training in spine neurosurgery. Surgical volume consists of trauma, spine and general neurosurgery cases. State of the art medical equipment including intraoperative Brainlab Brain Suite, O-arm, and Biplanar angiography. Outstanding support will be provided by an established Neuro-ICU team of fellowship trained neurointensivists and cerebrovascular neurosurgeons. The Neurosurgery Center is further supported by an aligned primary care group, medical spine support and an active cancer program that will help establish a broad range of neurosurgery.

The newly recruited neurosurgeons will participate in general neurosurgery and trauma call. Additional responsibilities would include clinical care, teaching and could include research activities.     This role provides or assists with basic direct patient care activities under the supervision of an RN using technical skills specifically identified on applicable skills checklists for which training and competency have been established.

    The Health Unit Coordinator or Division Clerk is responsible for performing duties related to patient admission, transfer and discharge, communication with patients, guests and staff, electronic health records maintenance and other duties of a clerical nature.

    The Medical Assistant utilizes medical and administrative skills to provide support to patients and healthcare staff under the supervision of a physician or nurse.

    This role provides or assists with basic direct patient care activities under the supervision of an RN using skills specifically identified on applicable skills checklists for which training and competency have been established.

    The Surgical Technician provides quality patient care in the perioperative and intraoperative phases of the patient experience. This role offers peer education, maintenance of the sterile field, advocacy, efficient provision of resources, maintenance of supply inventory, enforcement of standards and integration and coordination of care across the surgical setting.

    The Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant helps with the provision of care and treatment to a specified group of patients under the direction of RN and/or MD/DO.

    • Health Plan Options – You have the choice between two comprehensive Cleveland Clinic Employee Health Plan options: EHP and EHP Plus. Both plans are administered by Aetna and feature minimal copays for in-network care. Although the benefit designs of EHP and EHP Plus are identical, they differ in their provider network size, with EHP offering a narrow network and EHP Plus providing access to the wide Aetna Open Access Select network.     • Adoption assistance – We provide financial assistance of up to $5,000/per child ($10,000 maximum lifetime benefit) for caregivers who choose to legally adopt a child.
    • Employee Assistance Program – The Program provides free, confidential short-term counseling for caregivers and their families, whether for relationships or legal challenges.
    • Employee Hardship Fund – This fund provides aid for caregivers experiencing unexpected financial difficulties.
    • Paid maternity and parental leave – You will enjoy up to eight consecutive weeks for maternal care after the birth of your child to bond with your baby and up to four weeks for parental care.
