As Director Human Resource Services, you will serve as the HR Services leader and strategic advisor to Institute, Division, and Hospital leadership, aligning human resources strategies with operational and workforce needs. In this role, you will develop a deep understanding of business priorities and workforce challenges, translating them into effective HR strategies and solutions. You will collaborate with Human Resources Centers of Excellence (COEs) to address organizational needs while balancing the priorities of the business, organization, and HR. This position provides an independent perspective and voice as a trusted member of the Institute, Division, and Hospital leadership team.

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • In collaboration with Institute/Division/Hospital Leadership, create and ensure ongoing review of the HR strategic plan aligned to business goals and workforce planning needs of the area.

  • Establish Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) to communicate, measure and track key outcomes of the strategic plan.

  • Build and maintain relationships and partner with HR COEs to drive the Institute/Division/Hospital’s HR strategic plan and other HR initiatives, which may include workforce planning, benefits, compensation, talent acquisition, workplace wellness, learning & engagement, HRIS & analytics and HR communications.

  • Direct and oversee the work of HR Services employees.

  • Identify opportunities, make recommendations and drive process improvement.

  • Understand, use, and interpret HR and business metrics to identify trends, problem solve and influence change.

  • Assess and elevate the level of talent on a continuous basis.

  • Provide structure and guidance for leadership development strategies within the organization.

  • View as a trusted and strategic advisor to the Institute/Division/Hospital executive team regarding key organizational and HR issues.

  • Serve as a coach in efforts related to change management, engagement, team effectiveness, and leadership development.

  • Facilitate leadership development initiatives such as retreats, new leader assimilations, and team engagement activities.

  • Investigate complex employee complaints and make recommendations to senior leaders.

  • Navigate difficult discussions and complex situations to assist leadership with assessing performance deficiencies and developing plans to address.

  • Assess risk to organization for all issues related to employees and HR matters and offers sound recommendations to address.

  • Oversee that leaders are informed and compliant with organizational initiatives (e.g., annual performance reviews, merit, engagement, compliance, flu, etc.) and regulatory compliance.

  • Maintain regulatory knowledge and expertise. 

  • Partner with the legal department as needed/required.

  • Oversee collective bargaining agreement and relationship, contract interpretation, and contract negotiations, if applicable.

  • Participate in Institute/Division/Hospital leadership councils and committees as appropriate.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field

  • 8 years of progressive, related Human Resources experience inclusive of three years of management experience and/or experience coaching and mentoring leaders

  • Strong communications skills (verbal and written), group facilitation and presentation skills

  • Analytical skills in talent management, workforce planning, and HR strategy

  • Ability to analyze and apply data measures, performance and outcomes

  • Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • In depth knowledge of employment and labor laws (FLSA, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, NLRA, etc.)

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • Master's Degree

  • Human Resources certification (Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP))

  • Healthcare experience

  • Demonstrated experience managing large teams (preferably within healthcare or large-scale service environments).

  • Evidence of strategic thought leadership, data-driven decision-making

  • Ability to operate as a true HR business partner

  • Skilled in non-union environments

  • Proven track record in building high-performance HR teams and driving engagement among direct and indirect reports

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system and, in some locations, off-site.

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

Personal Protective Equipment:              

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).     The Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant helps with the provision of care and treatment to a specified group of patients under the direction of RN and/or MD/DO.

    • Health Plan Options – You have the choice between two comprehensive Cleveland Clinic Employee Health Plan options: EHP and EHP Plus. Both plans are administered by Aetna and feature minimal copays for in-network care. Although the benefit designs of EHP and EHP Plus are identical, they differ in their provider network size, with EHP offering a narrow network and EHP Plus providing access to the wide Aetna Open Access Select network.     • Cleveland Clinic Investment Pension Plan offers eligible employees an excellent opportunity to build a retirement account for the future. It is fully funded by Cleveland Clinic and equal to 2.5% of your salary (increasing with more years of service).
