As a Cardiac Sonographer, you will collaborate with and learn from some of the best caregivers in healthcare while building a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world. You will be part of a supportive caregiver team dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and creating one of the best environments to work in healthcare. In this role, you will perform echocardiogram studies to obtain important diagnostic information about patients’ cardiac health. Responsibilities include evaluating blood flow, valve function, and chamber size to help determine the overall condition of the heart. You will also assist physicians in the cardiac catheterization lab and operating room while supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care with a strong emphasis on accuracy, quality, and education.
A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with rotating weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage requirements, including approximately one weekend per month and seven weeks of call coverage per year.
This position is primarily based at South Pointe but may require travel to other East Region locations, including Euclid Hospital, Hillcrest Hospital, and Marymount Hospital, as needed.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physicians.

Set up and adjust all equipment and manually maneuver transducers to perform exams.

Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures.

Perform routine and complex studies and assist physicians in a variety of imaging procedures.

Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Bachelor's degree in sonography or vascular technology
-
OR graduate of a cardiac ultrasound program (18-month program)
-
OR two years of full-time echo experience.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
-
New hires must obtain the Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
-
OR the Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential from Cardiac Credentialing International within one year of hire date
-
Demonstrated knowledge of m-mode, 2D and doppler calculations and cardiac hemodynamics

Familiar with computers and can learn related programs
Physical Requirements:

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time; must lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Ability to assist with transport of patients, i.e., pushing beds, stretchers and wheelchairs.

Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $35.50
Maximum hourly: $54.50
