As a Lead Ultrasound Technologist, you will perform diagnostic sonographic imaging using high-frequency, non-ionizing sound waves to produce images that assist physicians in diagnosing and assessing medical conditions in patients of all ages. You will operate ultrasound, sonogram, and echocardiogram equipment, maintain patient safety, and support image-guided procedures when needed. In this role, you also assume a lead technical position, providing guidance and oversight within the imaging team.
A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform diagnostic sonographic imaging through the application of non-ionizing, high-frequency sound waves for patients of all ages.

Maintain patient safety.

Assume a lead technical role.

Supervise and coordinate work activities, schedule work assignments, prepare the master schedule, complete payroll time sheets and maintain procedure manuals.

Train, counsel, discipline and evaluate the performance of caregivers.

Interview and recommend selection of applicants.
-
Perform ultrasound studies (obstetrical, gynecology, abdominal, retroperitoneal, small parts, pediatrics and vascular).
-
Consult with the referring physician regarding patients’ medical history and selection of appropriate procedures and equipment.

Review charts, previous reports and requisition prior to the exam.
-
Prepare patients for examinations, explain the procedure and ensure patient safety and comfort.
-
Schedule all emergency patients for diagnostic ultrasound procedures, monitor all appointments scheduled for ultrasound examinations and determine priority of patients.

Ensure quality assurance tests and performed daily/weekly, schedule maintenance and assist with instrument calibration.

Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state or federal law and with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.).

Be knowledgeable in after-hours transmission of images and paperwork.

Provide technical assistance and direction.

Act as a resource for physicians, technologists and students.

Review processed films/scans to determine quality and need for additional images.

Assist with the clinical instruction of ultrasound residents and students, in-service education for caregivers and orienting new caregivers.

Rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations as needed.

Maintain knowledge in the field through self-motivated education and attendance at conferences and symposiums.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Bachelor’s degree in sonography OR graduate of a two-year accredited school in an allied health program and satisfactory completion of a full-time clinical setting

Two years of ultrasound experience

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

If working within the OBGYN/Women’s Health Institute: must be a Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within one year of hire. Certification within OB/GYN (RDMS, OB/GYN) must be obtained within one year of hire

If working within the Imaging Institute: must be a Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) or RT(VS) upon hire. Must have one certification within Abdominal (RDMS, AB), OB/GYN (RDMS, OB/GYN) or Vascular (RVT, VT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) upon hire. The other two certifications must be obtained within twelve months of hire
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $36.80
Maximum hourly: $56.13
