This 100-bed hospital provides top-quality patient care to the communities in and around Martin County. Here, you will work alongside passionate physicians, nurses, and other caregivers in a family-oriented, supportive environment.
As a Vascular Technologist, you will perform high-quality vascular ultrasounds. In this role, you will assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of disorders affecting the vascular system and perform non-invasive exams to assess for diseases or disorders. Every day, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients by ensuring they receive necessary care.
A PRN caregiver in this position works varying 8-hour shifts between 7:00AM – 7:30PM, including weekends. Although the main work location is Martin South Hospital, this caregiver may also be scheduled at Martin North, Tradition, St. Lucie West and Stuart Family Health Center.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform carotid duplex, venous duplex, arterial duplex, aortoiliac duplex, penile duplex and renal duplex.

Dictate preliminary reports for physicians.

Consult with vascular medicine physician for interpretation of test results.

Maintain records of testing for documentation.
-
Provide daily account of patient's charge requisition with appropriate ICD9 codes.

Provide training and act as a resource for vascular ultrasound students, residents and physicians.

Provide testing for add-on emergency patients.
-
Maintain continuing medical education requirements for the appropriate professional organization.
-
Maintain files (e.g., product and service quotes), records and up-to-date documents for accreditation of vascular lab.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Completion of an appropriate allied health program leading to a degree OR certificate in the application of non-invasive cardiovascular ultrasound techniques
-
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or other appropriate national certification OR registry eligible
-
Appropriate national registry must be completed within one year of hire

Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
-
Advanced training in anatomy, physiology, biology, and physics
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Three years of clinical experience

Dual registry status as a Vascular and Echo Technologist
Physical Requirements:

Essential Duties: Interact with patients, families, physicians and other health care workers.

Good hand coordination for positioning of prove and equipment.

Good vision to analyze computer screens and VCR recordings to diagnose test results.

Physical Duties: Moderate lifting and positioning of patients.

Moderate pushing and pulling of equipment.

Working Conditions: 100% air-conditioned.

Moderate risk of exposure to blood or air-borne pathogens.

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
