The Lead Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient supports the full inpatient pharmacy operation, serving as a central medication hub for the hospital while working closely with pharmacists and pharmacy team members across all shifts. This role provides leadership and workflow coordination for a large technician team, supports medication preparation, distribution, and timely delivery to inpatient units, and plays a key role in IV room operations, including ensuring sterile compounding teams have the medications and supplies needed to care for complex neonatal and pediatric patients. With extensive cross-training and exposure to a wide range of specialty departments and high-acuity cases, this position offers strong opportunities for professional growth while ensuring safe, efficient, and uninterrupted medication access throughout the hospital.
This is a full-time position. A caregiver in this role will work 40 hours per week with 8-hour shifts. Shifts rotate between day and evening coverage, with start times as early as 6:00 AM and end times as late as 11:30 PM. Weekend coverage is required one out of every four weekends, with holiday coverage as needed.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Interact with and review work of caregivers, providing feedback to ensure maximized output and efficiency.
- Create and present quality control reports to management regarding team performance and throughput.
- Ensure caregivers are adequately trained and oriented to the work area.
- Provide onside re-training.
- Serve as a technical resource.
- Work in staff capacity and possess the ability to perform all technician functions.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma
- Three years of experience in an inpatient and/or advanced community practice setting
- Ability to educate and train others, including how to plan and direct their efforts
- Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:
- Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR the National HealthCareer Association (NHA)
- AND it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee. If certified but current status with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) is Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee it is required to update registration status to a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the OBOP within six months of hire.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
- Prior leadership/supervisory experience
Physical Requirements:
- Typical physician demands include the ability to perform functions of the job while standing, reaching, stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of the job.
- Ability to lift up to 20lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching; ability to transport up to 250 lbs.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $19.25
Maximum hourly: $28.00
