Opening its doors in 2013 and expanding in 2017, this state-of-the-art acute care facility has 177 patient rooms and offers a wide variety of services to meet community needs. The Critical Care Transport (CCT) Team is available 24/7 to transport critically ill and injured patients of all ages. By initiating tertiary care during transfer, our EMTs help improve outcomes and recovery. In this role, you will perform various medical interventions as needed, including drug/fluid administration and life support. Often times, you will interact with patients that are in tough situations, allowing you to bring some light and energy to their day and help them have a positive experience regardless of what they’re going through. Every day, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients and the community as a CCT EMT.
A caregiver in this position works three varying 12-hour shifts per week, which may include weekends and holidays.
This caregiver must be flexible to work at any of the following sites: Indian River, Martin North, Martin South, Tradition and St. Lucie West.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform all basic and life support skills as prescribed by the State of Florida and the Medical Director.

Safely operate designated Emergency Response vehicle.
-
Assist in patient care and transport as directed.
-
Work collaboratively with members of the team to provide essential emergency response services.
-
Respond safely and without delay to calls for emergency assistance.
-
Perform daily vehicle safety and readiness checks, reporting any actual and potential hazards.
-
Provide care and communication suitable for appropriate age-specific care.

Conduct point-of-care laboratory testing as part of patient care and participate in requisite point-of-care testing maintenance procedures.

Report pertinent observations regarding patients to the appropriate person.

Assist other emergency response agencies in securing patients for treatment/transport as needed.

Function as an advocate for the patient and their family by supplying and interpreting information, supporting decisions and facilitating communication.

Maintain the specific confidentiality issues of the patient.

Perform daily and monthly checks to ensure continuous readiness for state inspection.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Graduate of an accredited Basic EMT Program
-
Current Florida licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic EMT
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
-
Operation of Emergency Vehicles (EVOC) Certificate with eight hours each of driving and lecture time
-
Current Valid Driver’s License (VDL) and insurable through Cleveland Clinic’s liability center
-
Ability to use related clinical and communications equipment and the electronic patient care report system
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Two years of experience driving Emergency Vehicles as an EMT
Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements of this position are; the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.

The employee frequently is required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move various weights up to and exceeding 25 pounds, pursuant to safely ambulating patients as needed.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
