Responsibilities:
- Provides care and delivery of radiation therapy to both adult and pediatric populations.
- Participate in both weekend and holiday on call rotations.
- Become proficient in advanced therapy delivery systems such as Gamma Knife, High Dose Rate Brachytherapy and Total Body Irradiation techniques.
- Performs the delivery of radiation therapy to both ambulatory and inpatient populations.
- Instruct and evaluate radiation therapy students from accredited affiliate programs.
- Determines and delivers appropriate patient treatment plan in collaboration with physician and dosimetrist.
- Monitors and documents patient's condition and reports any adverse reactions.
- Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.
- Positions patients and selects anatomic/technical parameters accurately.
- Checks and adjusts necessary equipment, including linear accelerator.
- Treatment and management of clinically acute patients. ICU, NICU, and PICU.
- Coordination of treatment delivery with acute care patients requiring anesthesia and sedation.
- On call and weekend treatments for clinically urgent treatment delivery for inpatient care.
- Assistance with delivery of radiation treatment during surgical procedures.
- Supervision and instruction of therapy students and dosimetry students on providing acute treatment care.
- Conduct Total Body Irradiation therapy for inpatients that are undergoing bone marrow transplantation procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Graduate from a School of Radiation Therapy Technology that is approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEA) or be registry eligible.
Certifications:
- Board certified Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), R.T.(R)(T)(ARRT) in good standing.
- Current state licensure if required by law in state in which employed.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association (AHA).
Complexity of Work:
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and a strong understanding of the sciences and physics.
- Ability to use various computer programs required in the design, interpretation, and set up of the radiation fields.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate and relate well with patients who are under physical and emotional stress.
- Ability to utilize computer programs to input data base and capture information.
Work Experience:
- Experience with radiation oncology specific electronic medical record as well as record and verify.
- Experience with external radiation therapy, IMRT, IGRT and CT simulation preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires ability to perform duties while walking, standing, stooping, reaching and lifting.
- Requires ability to lift materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
- Requires ability to push/pull over 100 lbs.
- Requires dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions.
- Requires Safe Operating Procedure for x-ray generating equipment.
- Requires ability to work the hours of operation – flexible.
- Requires ability to take "call" on weekdays and weekends based on a rotational schedule.
- Requires ability to float to other CCHS facilities when needed.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $33.46
Maximum hourly: $51.03
The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
