Cleveland Clinic is recruiting an Enterprise Center Director of Sports Medicine, Orthopaedic Surgery. This position will hold a pivotal leadership role within the organization, overseeing clinical operations, talent recruitment and management, research, education, and innovation in the realm of sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery. The Center Director will be responsible for managing a diverse array of responsibilities, including helping to spearhead the success of the Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center (GPPC); a novel partnership with two professional Cleveland sports franchises. The GPPC will become the global epicenter for human performance serving all athletes of levels of all sports. The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership skills and ability to develop a global leader in Sports, a profound understanding of sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery, and a demonstrated commitment to advancing clinical care, research, innovation, and education in the field.
Key responsibilities include:
Clinical Operations
- Implement best practices, policies, and protocols to ensure high-quality, efficient, and best-in-class patient care, safety and clinical operations.
- Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the clinical setting and across all regions (Ohio, Canada, Florida, and London).
- Growth of the Sport Medicine Center
Talent Management
- Recruit elite candidates, mentor, and develop an outstanding team of surgeons, residents, and fellows.
- Provide guidance and support for professional development, fostering a high-performance environment.
Research
- Drive and oversee research initiatives, encouraging groundbreaking studies and advancements in Sports Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery.
- Expand research findings through publications and presentations at conferences.
- Work closely with the Departmental research leaders to expand the infrastructure necessary for more discovery, innovation, and achievement.
Education
- Implement innovative teaching methodologies and ensure adherence to accreditation standards across Cleveland Clinic’s global footprint.
- Foster an environment conducive to learning and knowledge exchange.
Innovation
- Collaborate with industry partners, facilitate clinical trials, and assess emerging trends to enhance patient care.
- Encourage a culture of creativity and exploration within the department.
- Meaningfully contribute to developing national and international clinical standards for sports medicine surgery.
Leadership Experience
- Provide visionary and effective leadership, setting strategic goals and priorities aligned with Cleveland Clinic’s mission and values.
- Collaborate with other departments, senior leadership, and stakeholders to drive interdisciplinary collaboration and initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Board certification in Orthopaedic Surgery with Subspecialty Certification in Sports Medicine or Primary Board Certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine.
- Fellowship training in Sports Medicine (Surgical or Non-surgical).
- Extensive experience in Sports Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery or Non-surgical Sports Medicine with a proven track record of leadership.
- Strong managerial, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive clinical excellence, research, education, and innovation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Enterprise-wide, the Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine team consists of 50 physicians and 9 advanced practice providers. In 2023, the Sports Medicine team completed 91,000 E&Ms and 4,600 surgeries.
