Cleveland Clinic Children's Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry offers a comprehensive spectrum of mental health services for children from infancy through adolescence. Our pediatric psychiatric services are designed to meet the needs of children, adolescents and their families in times of adjustment or crisis. As a Music Therapist, you will provide patients with comprehensive clinical therapy services designed to help them meet individual goals and enhance their well-being. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in both the lives of patients and their families by offering them a creative outlet for various mental and physical health ailments.
A caregiver in this role will work variable 8-10 hour shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends. Shift will be 7 am- 7 pm and 3 pm- 7 pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Design, implement and evaluate music therapy interventions to address the biopsychosocial needs of patients and families as appropriate, under the Scope of Practice of the Certification Board for Music Therapists and document in the Electronic Medical Record.

Serve as clinical and educational resource for the hospital units and professional community regarding music therapy practice.

Adhere to general expectations for all employees in order that the program functions in an effective manner to meet the treatment needs of patients.

Maintain confidentiality of patients, families, staff and hospital respecting patients' rights and dignity.
-
Assist and participate in research as needed, working with teams to develop research topics and protocols, conducting research, gathering results and assisting in articles for submission.
-
Assist Music Therapy Department as needed to develop and evaluate music therapy programs and initiatives.
-
Coordinate music therapy observation experiences, write reports and collaborate on other projects as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from a program accredited by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)
-
Music Therapist – Board Certified (MT-BC) or Board Certified eligible from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
-
WELLE (crisis intervention) training is required within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification training within the first 90 days of hire
-
Valid Ohio Driver’s License upon hire
-
One year of experience providing music therapy services (consideration will be made for time spent in practicum or internship providing music therapy services)

Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and musical skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Three years of experience providing Music Therapy in a hospital or healthcare setting
-
Master's Degree in Music Therapy OR Master’s Degree in a related field (i.e., Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, etc.) if the candidate has a Bachelor's Degree
-
Six months of group work and program planning/development
experience -
Registered Art Therapist (ATR) or Registered Art Therapist Provisional (ATR-P)
-
Experience as a Music or Art Therapist
Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Physical Requirements:

Standing and walking at least 75% of the time; sitting less than 25% of the time; hand and finger dexterity and reaching with arms and hands at least 75% of the time, close vision and depth perception at least 75% of the time; hearing and talking more than 80% of the time; and pushing and pulling at least 75% of the time.
