As an Exercise Physiologist, you will develop individualized exercise prescriptions and oversee exercise progression for patients with cardiovascular disease in a rehabilitative setting. In this role, you will design personalized exercise programs to improve overall health and provide education on behavior change strategies to manage or prevent chronic diseases. You will also rotate through Phase 2 and Phase 3 outpatient cardiac and pulmonary programs to ensure all staff remain cross-trained and versatile. This role supports Cleveland Clinic’s mission and vision by delivering high-quality, patient-centered care that enhances the health and well-being of individuals with heart conditions. A caregiver in this position works days varying from 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Rotating Saturday shifts occur every 8 weeks for 4 hours, supporting inpatient cardiac rehab patients.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide patient testing before and after rehabilitation, including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance and endurance.

Provide exercise prescriptions for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen.

Update exercise prescriptions according to patient response.

Implement concepts of cardiac secondary prevention.

Recognize contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise.

Appropriately respond to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.

Provide exercise information to patients, peers and the community through public speaking and education classes.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in an exercise-related field

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
-
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross within 90 days of hire
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Master’s Degree in an exercise-related field
-
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP)
Physical Requirements:
-
Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and ability to help patients stand and walk.

Will require some lifting, bending, twisting of upper extremity to help limited patients.

Must be able to adapt to different room temperatures in exercise.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $18.88
Maximum hourly: $28.80
