When we do everything in service of our patients and caregivers, no detail gets ignored. Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Lead Plumber will install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and medical gas systems. A person in this role serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and as an initial resource for plumbing related questions and concerns, while also assisting department leaders with day-to-day operations of the shop.
A caregiver in this role works from 7:00am – 3:30pm, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Be assigned as a lead go-to contact within certain projects across the enterprise.

Ensure that policies and procedures are communicated and upheld by staff.
-
Monitor department activities and provide coaching and feedback to team members when appropriate.

Inspect, repair and perform maintenance on all types of plumbing systems including heating, steam, gas lines, and medical, vacuum and pressurized gas systems. Installs and maintains pipe assemblies, plumbing fixtures and fittings.

Test fire system valves, tamper switches, fire pumps, and dry deluge fire systems.

Repair and maintain steam stations, pressure relief valves, heating/condensate return stations, back flow preventers, and sewer/storm drains.

Assist co-workers with plumbing-related questions, comments, and concerns in a Subject Matter Expert capacity.

Work may be assigned across multiple Cleveland Clinic locations.

Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required.
-
Five years of experience as a plumber including experience with pressurized gas systems, vacuum systems, steam, hot water and fire protection systems.

Certificate of an approved plumbing apprenticeship program.
-
Four years of on-the-job experience as a state-licensed plumber may substitute for a certificate.

Knowledge of Microsoft Software.

Ability to read blueprints and interpret engineering drawings.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Medical Gas Certification through National Inspection Testing and Certification Corporation (NITC) is preferred.
Physical Requirements:

Typical physical demands require full body motion including the ability to perform work while bending, stooping, stretching, and climbing ladders.

Requires dexterity and strength sufficient to operate required tools and machinery.

Typically required to lift and carry machinery and/or equipment weighing 25 to 100 lbs. and/or assist with lifting weights exceeding 100 lbs.

Ability to work at heights and on ladders.

Ability to work in confined spaces.

Requires color acuity sufficient to distinguish color-coded signage and systems.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $30.41
Maximum hourly: $46.38
