Martin South Hospital’s Emergency Department has multi-disciplinary care teams and leading-edge technology needed to diagnose and treat patients efficiently and effectively, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department, you will play an essential role in the practice and delivery of patient care. You will supervise all aspects of personnel management and development while maintaining adherence to regulatory standards. Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include staffing, scheduling, budget management, succession planning, and completing regulatory compliance audits. This position requires strong communication skills, compassion, empathy, patience, and a team mindset. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Manage the operation and practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.

Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.

Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
-
Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
-
Supervise caregivers and promote development.
-
Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
-
Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes.
-
Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.
-
Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.
-
Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
-
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
-
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross upon hire or within first year of employment
-
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within first year of employment
-
Three years of recent clinical nursing experience including at least one year of healthcare management experience
-
High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area
-
Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills
