Summary: The Director Surgical Services is responsible for leading and managing all the surgical services areas. The Director develops organizational structure, a professional climate, and philosophy of patient care, which promotes excellent health care delivery, the execution of clear goals and standards, and continual investigations of alternative methods to improve operations. Works in collaboration with administrative staff, medical staff and other department managers. Job Responsibilities: Assists with direction, coordination, and management of all surgical areas. This may include operating rooms, pre-admission testing, post anesthesia care, ambulatory surgery, and central sterile processing. Provide supervision and acts as a resource to nurse managers, educators, clinical specialists, and staff. Works with administrative staff, physicians, and support staff to achieve operational goals. Collaborates with leadership team regarding budget review, personnel management, monitoring of productivity and staff development. Ensures communication, cooperation and understanding among staff. Monitors adherence to CC policies and procedures. Promotes ongoing professional development of staff at all levels and fosters employee engagement. Other duties as assigned.

Education: BSN with Master's Degree Required.

Experience: Minimum five years surgical services experience. Three years management experience directing surgical services in an acute care facility. Progressive experience in clinical and nursing management required. Skill in finance and budgeting, computer applications, organizational theory and application, human resource management, and customer service. Requires excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio. Perioperative Nurse Certificiation (CNOR) preferred. Member of Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) required.

Physical Requirements: Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. |
