NP – Outpt. – Preadmission Testing – Marymount Hospital
The Preadmission Testing department is seeking an Adult or Family* certified Nurse Practitioner for the department at Marymount Hospital. (*Family-certified NP is preferred.)
This NP will be caring for a patient population consisting of a wide range of ages.
The NP will be responsible for performing H & P’s and ordering appropriate testing as evidenced by physical findings and history. He or she will also be testing, and referring for appropriate clearances, which will be guided by critical thinking skills and the Anesthesia Institute’s algorithms, to optimize patients for surgery. The NP may be required to perform H & P’s in the preoperative area for same day outpatient add-on cases and pain management patients.
To be considered, a candidate must be a graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, and meet with all state and federal regulations to work in the medical field, as well as certified prescriptive authority.
Experienced NP candidates are strongly preferred.
Physician Assistant will not be considered for this position.
This is a PART-TIME role. The job will consist of (4) 8-hours shifts per week, totaling 64 hours per pay period. The hours will be Monday through Friday, with a starting time of 7:00am. Some of hours may be flexible, as a 6am start time may be needed to support Ambulatory Surgery team. The department is closed on holidays, and does NOT require Saturdays at this time.
Summary: Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with a physician according to a standard care arrangement and specialty certification. Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Certifications may include: acute care, adult, family, gerontology, psych and mental health, neonatology, pediatrics and women's health.
Assess health status by obtaining relevant health and medical history.
Performs a physical exam based upon the age and patient history as per the Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician.
Identifies significant health and medical risk factors.
Orders, interprets and evaluates laboratory test and other diagnostic studies to assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
Develops a diagnosis by analyzing and synthesizing collected data. In collaboration with the physician, develops a treatment plan along with the patient and significant others.
Performs diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with certification, law and Cleveland Clinic privileges.
May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through applicable state Board of Nursing and CCF policy.
Develops patient education plan.
Participates in medical team rounds; collaborates with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care.
May perform admission history & physical, document progress notes, prepare discharge summaries as required.
Assists with and facilitates discharge planning. Other duties as assigned.
Education: Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing.
Experience: Two years clinical nursing experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Currently Licensed as RN in applicable state, national certification as nurse practitioner by nationally accredited organization, current certificate of authority by applicable state Board of Nursing, certificate to prescribe preferred. BLS Healthcare Provider required; ACLS or PALS may be required based upon work setting.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Excellent analytical and decision making skills are required. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated competency and the ability to perform advanced assessment and diagnosis. Demonstrated ability to utilize the electronic medical record. Two years clinical nursing experience preferred
